Page 15, EOD. Had to intervene with gouache both for the firmament and the tarmac. Wasted a lot of time, even though the value sketch accurately captured the tonal scale. Oh well. I started painting p. 15 by going in lightly at first, gradually adding darker values later. The value sketch serves as a guide, helping to define the tonal structure. I’m blocking in the dark tones much like one would block in blacks when working on traditional black-and-white comics.
