The image here used is a piece I did for one of the previous Christmas seasons. It is supposed to depict St. Nicholas of Myra, the real “Santa Claus,” who was a 4th-century bishop renowned for his generosity, miracles, and deep compassion for the poor and vulnerable. Known for secret gift-giving, such as placing coins in the shoes of those in need, St. Nicholas became a symbol of kindness and charity. The bag he caries in his left hand is a ransom money he will offer to the authorities to free the imprisioned Christian, bestowing them a gift of freedom.
